There are some questions I get asked a lot – I’ve tried to answer them here. If you have any questions that aren’t covered here please do get in touch.
About my jewellery...
I’m surprised how often I’m asked this. The honest answer is I have no idea. I haven’t found any research with good supporting medical evidence and have no personal experience of these problems. I do however know plenty of people swear by wearing copper to help relieve symptoms but I make no claims about my work having medically beneficial properties. They do look pretty though!
Jewellery made of some metals (copper being one of them) can react with the moisture and naturally occurring acids on your skin causing a temporary yukky green mark. Stress, skin type, soaps and lotions, body temperature can all cause changes in your skin so each person will have a different experience to the next. If you have had this problem with jewellery before it’s likely to happen with any jewellery containing copper (including sterling silver which contains a percentage of copper too).
To combat this reaction I coat all copper elements in my jewellery with either wax or acrylic lacquer which provides a barrier between your skin and the metal. Keeping your jewellery dry and clean will also help avoid the dreaded green mark.
1. Enamel is basically glass – don’t drop it, shock it or bend it or it will break.
2. Don’t polish the copper in my products – I coat them with a lacquer or wax to help prevent tarnishing and polishing may rub away the coating – However please polish silver earwires using a silver polishing cloth if you wish.
3. Keep your items dry – excessive moisture will effect the protective coating and could cause discolouration.
I make all of the ear wires, hooks and posts in solid sterling (925) silver.
Buying from me...
I sell in person at various fairs and events through the year – check out my events list here and I have a Folksy shop if you’d like to order online. Additionally, there are a growing number of shops and galleries stocking my work or you can always contact me directly by phone (07999 822 112) or email (Gwin@gwinkerry.co.uk) to place an order or discuss your requirements.
I am happy to accept payments in cash, by guaranteed cheque, bank transfer or via PayPal.
Absolutely. I often take orders from customers who can’t find exactly what they are looking for in stock.
I cannot exactly match colours, but I have a vast selection to choose from and if you would like a pattern or piece of jewellery designing just for you then I will be happy to discuss your ideas – you just have to ask 🙂
All jewellery items apart from wire necklaces are sent out either on a branded display card or in a branded box and presented in a gift bag. Wire necklaces are sent in a gift bag only. Each item description details how it will be packaged. If you would like a gift box instead of a display card I can send you one for a little extra cost – just let me know when you order.
Yes! I have recently started selling gift vouchers for those moments when you just can’t decide what to choose. They have been professionally printed on high quality card and come in a lovely bright coloured envelope ready for you to send.
You can use your gift voucher at any of my events or online in my Folksy shop to order an item in stock or your very own commissioned piece. To use your gift voucher for ordering on Folksy please choose what you would like to order and contact me with the name of the item(s) and your gift voucher code so that I can arrange your discount. Alternatively call or email me to order direct.
The terms and conditions are standard and fairly obvious but they have to be said. Here they are:
Gift vouchers are only redeemable at Gwin Kerry – Copper and Enamel. Vouchers are non-transferable and may be used only once. Not redeemable for cash. We will not be held liable for lost, stolen or damaged vouchers. Vouchers must be redeemed before expiry date. Vouchers will be considered null and void if tampered with. We reserve the right to change these conditions without prior notice.
So there you have it 😉
Postage and Delivery...
Everything I send out is packed securely in a padded envelope with either bubble and gift wrap or in a gift box.
I send all UK orders using Royal Mail’s 2nd class Signed For service. Overseas orders are sent using the Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed service.
Wholesale orders are sent Special Delivery with Royal Mail.
I can arrange for your order to be sent by an alternative method if you prefer – please let me know when you order.
Online in my Folksy shop I usually include the cost of UK postage so in many cases postage is free in the UK.
If you order direct with me, prices vary according to the size and type of parcel I need to use to send your order safely. Please ask for exact postage costs when ordering. Any postage costs will include secure packaging, safe shipping using a ‘signed for’ service and insurance.
